Garbo was Hepburn's favourite movie star and both ladies have been close friends. It is said that both legendary filmstars met for the first time in 1936, after Garbo filmed Camille. Garbo and Kate were both invited to a garden party at director's George Cukor's house in California and liked each other. They became friends over the next decades.
