Broman: “But you did appear in an advertisement for soap at home in Sweden before you went to Hollywood. I have seen one in a minor Swedish film magazine from the early twenties, in which you advertised YvY soap. Your sister did the same kind of thing for YvY.”

Garbo: “Yes, that's true – it was Alva who had met a fellow from Scania . We were given a whole carton of soap... We were both so young and green. It was Swedish soap.”
