Merrie Melodies: Speaking of the Weather

Introduction
Speaking of the Weather is an animated short in the Merrie Melodies series produced by Leon Schlesinger for Warner Bros. Released to theaters on September 4, 1937, it was directed by Frank Tashlin and animated by Joe D'Igalo and Volney White.

The story revolves around literary figures coming to life. Garbo appears rocking on her feet as if in a rocking chair.

The plot
It's midnight at the bookstore and all the book and magazine characters are coming to life.  An Andrews Sisters-like girl group is making music on the cover of a travel magazine. While they play their song, a criminal from "'The Gang" magazine robs a bank. He is caught by Charlie Chan and sentenced to (of course) "Life" (the magazine). A conveniently placed "Liberty" magazine makes his escape possible.

Many characters pursue the. Garbo helps by stepping out from a "Photoplay" magazine and defiantly tripping him with her big foot.

Most of the magazines in the store have an "October 1946" date on them. This was altered for the 1946 re-release, in order to disguise the fact that this film was almost ten years old at the time.
